Some of the most beautiful work of this craftsman, and many others, are in this book “Liège Gunmakers through their Work. 1800 - 1950”.

Arquebuserie Royale à Liège

Here is a shotgun juxtaposed Liège (light since of calibre 28) of very nice workmanship but unfortunately not attributable. Beautiful English butt, Holland-Holland system. But the Arquebuserie Royale à Liège is “unknown to the battalion”, at least until now. And it is very unfortunate that the picture from underneath the barrels is so blurred, perhaps there are some interesting markings.

The markings

z and t under star: countermarks of controllers, in use since 1877;

peron: inspection, in use since 1853;

lion on PV: smokeless powder test, in use since 1898;

28-70 in coated omega: nominal caliber and sleeve length, in use since 1924;

ELG on star in crowned oval: accepted, in use since 1893;

Greek annal letter phi for 1961

0 KG 838: gun weight, in use since 1924.
