Fernand-Marc CORMAN

On May 8,2005, we paid a visit to a young craftsman (born in 1962), in the noble sense of the term, who welcomed us in a charming small farmhouse in the HERVE area .

In Mr Corman's workshop we were immediately struck by the cleanliness and the tidiness which reigned there. A splendid HOLLAND-HOLLAND shotgun was on the vise being restored and various parts were arranged on immaculate linens.

The various tools necessary to his art were manufactured, as it is traditional, by the hand of the artist who works on wood as well as on metal, while only engraving is sub-contracted and then the choice is left to the discretion of the happy buyers.

He introduces himself as a manufacturer and restorer of fine hunting guns, what we can easily believe, when he proudly shows us some of its outstanding achievements. Each part of the weapon is considered, designed and hand manufactured in order to resist the enormous constraints of the ammunition used, to ensure a maximum of safety, solidity and effectiveness while remaining of a rare elegance. Moreover, he does not hesitate to bring some of his own improvements.

Fernand-Marc CORMAN perpetuates the great tradition of the craftsmen "at home" and is in keeping with brilliance with the former gun makers who made the reputation of the Liege area
