Some of the most beautiful work of this craftsman, and many others, are in this book “Liège Gunmakers through their Work. 1800 - 1950”.

Cosemans Fr.
It seems to me that it is a hunting rifle with two
superimposed barrels of calibre 9.3x74. The key for opening or breaking the
barrels is placed on the upper side where also the sight (triangular handle and
adjustable sight) and the
Galand-type slide
safety device are located. The double trigger is protected by an oval bridge
with a long flange. The English butt seems to be a walnut magnifying glass is
gridded in the place of the grip. The metal parts bear a floral engraving by
F. Dupont.
The weapon also bears the hallmarks of the Liège proofhouse, attesting to its
origin, namely:
- PV + Perron in a crowned oval and laurel leaves:
Superior proof of smooth rifles, valid from
1968 to the present day.
I haven’t seen any other proofs??
The weapon also bears the following markings:
OOO4: serial number of the weapon.
SL: brand unknown.
2880 Kg Cm2: it seems to me an indication of the pressure per cm2 in the guns.
MAGI: Could it be the brand of the Liège gunmaker
COSEMANS Fr.
rue H. de Dinant, 9 at 4020 Liège? No further indications.
Head of eagle: brand of the gun
manufacturer CAP Henri,
rue Jonruelle, 62 in Liège.
F. DUPONT: it is the Liège engraver of the weapon.
Unfortunately, this is unknown in the documentation. (See also the site at
DARDENNE Augustin)
Appeal is launched to the parents of Liège engravers for identification ?
