small pistol FRANCOTTE with inlays of mother-of-pearl and silver cabochon
Auguste FRANCOTTE
Here is a classic but nice (and in very good condition, especially for its age) percussion chest pistol (pocket) well marked AF for Auguste FRANCOTTE.
Octagonal screw-down damask gun, stealth release; as
often on this type of weapon, the wood is not perfect... or the wood has dried
up.

This
beautiful little box in rosewood, arranged in the French style, is covered in
green felt.
It
contains a ball mold and a cleaning rod.
The
weapons are boxlock action percussion pistol.
They have
a belt hook on one side. This hook being placed on the right side of one weapon
and on the left side of the other, it seems that these two weapons are made to
be worn on either side of their owner's belt.
The
barrel can be unscrewed by means of the square wrench located at the end of one
of the branches of the ball mould.
The box
of the weapon is decorated with fine engravings in scrolls, the recessed trigger
is deployed to the action of the hammer.
The ELG punch in an oval on a five-pointed star on the
Liège proofhouse testifies to the fact that this weapon was manufactured at the
very beginning of
Auguste FRANCOTTE's
production.
AF
crowned
is one of the marks of the house
Auguste FRANCOTTE.
