GOBERT Nicolas

It is a revolver with central percussion. The barrel is equipped with a ring extractor. The breaking system is operated by two pedals placed on either side of the hammer’s uprights. The rifled barrel is round with a triangular hammer. It is quite long (8 or 10 inches). The rounded butt consists of two bone plates. It ends with a metal ring fixed by a rotating screw.

The weapon bears the regulatory stamps of the Liège proofhouse, namely:

ELG*in a crowned oval: final acceptance after 1893.

Z* (so well read?) : countermark of the controller, in use from 1877 to 1968.

R crowned: rifled barrel, in use from 1894 to 1968.

The weapon also bears the following trade mark:

NG crowned : this brand is not included in the files, it could belong to :

GILLON, Noël, Liège Faubourg St Gilles. Author of 8 patents from 1866 to 1868.

GILON, Nicolas, Saint-Rémy (Province of Liège) author of two patents dated 1871/1872 concerning improvements to a centre-impact cartridge-gun revolver.

GOBERT, Nicolas Fils, Herstal Voie de Liège, 23. Author of two patents in 1874.

The weapon also bears the numbers 11 and 1561 which represent the numbering of the weapon and barrel.
