Some of the most beautiful work of this craftsman, and many others, are in this book “Liège Gunmakers through their Work. 1800 - 1950”.

Goffin A.

This is a single shot top break pistol. The trigger is of type "with the Mexican". The barrel is with 8 sides with front sight raised. The hammer is external. The squared grips seem to me to be made of walnut, they are maintained by a central screw and two rivet washers of brass. The cap seems to me to be metallic ?

Only one punch of Liège is visible on the photographs, it is about the perron of Liège certifying the passage to the inspection of the proof house of Liège. This punch is valid from 1853 to our days.

At first the initial of the first name was identified as an "L", but in fact it is an "A".

One had concluded: "The barrel carries an engraved mention, namely L. Goffin Breveté Herstal. A Goffin Léon, mechanic of his state, living Faubourg Sainte Marguerite, 250 in Liege is announced to us in 1871. He is the author of only one patent seems it but which relates to a machine-gun! ".

However, in fact that seems rather to be Goffin Antoine, of Rabosée-Wandre, holder of a patent for a plate )with slide for revolver hammerless, with Bodeux François.
