Some of the most beautiful work of this craftsman, and many others, are in this book “Liège Gunmakers through their Work. 1800 - 1950”.

JEUSSETTE JOS

Here is a classic shotgun juxtaposed to outside hammers, key between the hammers, marked "Jos (?) Jeussette Armes à Huy" on the band between the barrels. Long barrels, English butt. It is almost 100 years old since it was tested in the second half of 1924.

The markings

D: annual letter for 1924;

P and W under star: countermark of a controller, in use since 1877;

Lion on PV: powder proof, in use since 1898;

ELG on star in crowned oval: accepted, in use since 1893;

16-65 in omega lying down: chamber size and length, in use since 30 June 1924;

EL: provisional proof, in use since 1852;

Peron: inspection, in use since 1853;

1kg429: barrel weight, effective 30 June 1924;

ACL in a circle: brand of gunner Lochet-Habran.

As for Jeussette Jos., it is very likely that he is the “simple” rifle dealer established at Huy rue Saint-Hilaire n°1 (in any case there is a trace of a J. Jeusette – admittedly, with an “S”, but typing errors/engraving always existed – in Huy in 1925).

There are also traces of a Jeussette J. registered on the proofhouse from 1933 to 1939, and a Jeussette M (Marcel?) registered from 1939 to 1952, but the latter two do not correspond to the passage to the proofhouse of the rifle we are dealing with in 1924.
