Some of the most beautiful work of this craftsman, and many others, are in this book “Liège Gunmakers through their Work. 1800 - 1950”.

KAUFMANN, SCHOLBERG & GADET
This is a
very interesting revolver, characterized by a hinged door opening system
occupying a third of the left handle.
It should
be noted at the outset that the inventor of this hinged door is still unknown.
The
revolver in question appears to be derived from a patent of
Michael KAUFFMANN
(associated with)
SCHOLBERG & GADET
hence the initials
SGK.
But
Michael KAUFFMANN’s
patent indicates that it is an improvement on a patent filed by the well-known
Jean WARNANT,
and if I have read and understood correctly, it relates to the release system,
not to the hinged door opening system.
Looking
through the many patents of
Jean WARNANT,
I found 039792 of 17 June 1876 concerning the release system, but the latter is
already accessible via a hinged door!
Here is
another revolver of the same style , which was tried by the Saxon War Department

There is
also another example: a
DDL (DieuDonné
LEVAUX)
with the characteristic shape and opening system of the
LEVAUX, but also with this opening system with hinged door with S.G.K. Patent
marking.
Let's add
that
Michael KAUFFMANN
lived in London, hence probably the "Patent"!
But as
said in the introduction, we don’t know (yet...) who invented the hinged door...
