Some of the most beautiful work of this craftsman, and many others, are in this book “Liège Gunmakers through their Work. 1800 - 1950”.

Lenglez Fils

This is a Liège hammerless pocket revolver. The short, round barrel is striped and wears a crescent handlebar. The five-stroke barrel is ellipses. The rod under the barrel is articulated. The trigger is foldable in the carcass which makes it easy to put in the pocket. A safety is placed on the rear left flank. The crosses seem to be made of wood.  (walnut?) grid.

The carcass bears some arabesque engravings.

The weapon bears the hallmarks of the Liège test bench, namely:

ELG* in a crowned oval: definitive acceptance, in use from 1893 to 1968.

AR*: Controller’s countermark, in use from 1877 to 1968.

R crowned: striped gun, in use from 1894 to 1968.

PV surmounted by a stylized lion: smokeless powder proof, in use from 1898 to 1968.

The weapon also bears the following markings:

Lenglez Fils Charleroi: this is a gun dealer in Charleroi who bought this gun (probably in lot) from a Liège manufacturer (unidentified) for resale.

691: Presumably indicates the gun number.

SUR: indicates safety!
