Mylonas Pistol

It is not a question of a whimsical copy of any arms manufacturer since this weapon with two shots (like pistol NAGANT of gendarmerie model 1877) was patented by E. Mylonas itself.

It deposited its patent n° 39360 at the Clerk's office of the Provincial Government of Liege the 19.04.1876. I thinks, but without proof, that the weapon was manufactured by brothers NAGANT in LIEGE where MYLONAS supervised the manufacture of its rifles!! The assumption is tempting.

This pistol has the following design features:

Overall length: 280 mm

Length of the barrels: 140 mm

Total height: 157mm.

Calibre: 9,4 Nagant.

Completion: nickeled.

It is struck of two punches of the proofhouse of Liege, namely:

ELG on star in an oval: acceptance, of use of 1846 to 1893.

L crowned: countermark of the controller, of use of 1852 to 1877.

I add that the museum of weapons of Liege also had a specimen of this weapon but that it was stolen to him by infraction a few years ago. This stolen weapon carried reference M.A.L. 1918.

I think that this weapon is extremely rare because the majority of the experts are unaware of his existence.
