Some of the most beautiful work of this craftsman, and many others, are in this book “Liège Gunmakers through their Work. 1800 - 1950”.
For more detail see: LIEGE GUNMAKERS
Manufacture Liégeoise d’armes à Feu
It's
about a rifle flintlock. The lock is of type “ahead” and the hammer “in heart”.
The small basin is contiguous to the battery. The trigger is right under trigger
guard. Against lock is with two screws. The stock seems to be out of wood of
walnut.
I did not
note any punch of the proofhouse of LIEGE.
The
weapon carries the following marks:
Crowned
M.L:
it is about the trademark of
Manufacture Liégeoise d’Armes à Feu
(Manufacture of Liège Firearm), street of Vertbois, 52-54 in LIEGE. This firm
was registered with the proofhouse
of
1866 to 1929.
Letters
C, B, A, P in several places of the weapon, they are probably punches of
controllers of manufacture.
Bee
carrying the letters G and L on the wings
(on wood): it is about the mark of George
Laloux manufacturer of weapons, street of Town
planners 3 in Liège which was registered with the proofhouse of 1910 to 1950. It
is most probably about a mark of retailer (second hand weapon?)
