Maréchal

It is about a shotgun to central percussion of hammerless type. The unrifled bores are juxtaposed and of gauge 12. The opening is practiced using the higher key of type “Top lever”. The safety of the type “Galand” is placed just behind. The lock is square and decorated with an engraving of the type “vine”. The butt out of wooden of walnut is of type “pistol”. The foreamr is of style “with pump”. The weapon carry the lawful punches of the proofhouse of Liege, namely:

12-70 in the letter omega: gauge nominal and length of the casing, of use from June 30, 1924 at our days.

Y*: countermark of the controller, of use of 1877 to 1968.

Letter y (with back): without could certainty, it act of the yearly letter of 1954?

The weapon also carries the following marks:

1751: number of the weapon.

J.F.: it is about the mark of Jean Falla manufacturer of barrels of rifles in Liege (see site).

NJ in an oval lying: I am unaware of his significance. It is probably about a subcontractor?

Maréchal engraved on the barrels: The Who’s Who arms manufacture of Liège quotes nineteen “Maréchal”, difficult to be found there?
