Martiny Fils

In NEUE STOECKEL, there is an arms manufacturer Henry Nicolas Martiny in Liege working of 1790-1803, which was the son of Hubert Nicolas Martiny. It was named “Fils”.

When the gun is transformed flint with percussion, I’m some it was built by Henry Nicolas Martiny.

It is about a pistol of voyage originally to flint and transformed with piston towards 1830/1840.

It is of caliber 60, the overall length is 330 mm and the barrel measures 203mm.

The lock round is of type “ahead” it is engraved name of its manufacturer is MARTINY Fils in cursive letters.

The barrel is with sides with the round thunder then to the mouth.

The metal rod is of type “head of nail”.

Against lock decorated in the shape with bird is fixed only by one only screw.

The hammer is in the shape of stylized dolphin.

The grip is of type “worsens” which indicates a manufacture at the beginning of 1800, it ends in one limps with starters whose lid represents a shell St Jacques.

The accessories like the trigger guard, against lock and the lid of limps with starters is out of silver plated metal, probably of real silver.

Little thing on the manufacturer MARTINY Henri Nicolas fils who was active according to STOECKEL of 1790 to 1803. It is announced in 1789 by FRAIKIN in its book on industry arms manufacture of Liège in 1940.
