Nagant 1893 Norwegian
The weapon shown above No. 526 is a modification of a civilian model of NAGANT calibre 7.5mm.
To make
it a Norwegian 1893 model, it was enough to change the shape of the
front sight.
The
original M.1893s still bear a type-approval mark of a Norwegian officer, namely
MP (Jacob Maximilian Gran Paaske), OA (Ole Adolf Julrup), N (NANDRUP) or HM
(name unknown).
The identification of the NAGANT M 1893 revolvers can sometimes be quite difficult, if one knows that the NAGANT revolvers of the Norwegian Navy had a rectangular front sight shape,
identical
to those of the Swedish M 1887 revolvers.
And finally, on some navy revolvers, the front sight have been modified to match those of the army.
These
modifications were made late by HUSQVARNA and received by BC (Bjarne Cranner),
whose trademark overrides that of HM.
