NAGANT of prison guard
The Cal
7.5 mm NAGANT was the only revolver of this calibre officially introduced in
Belgium.
The model
is the same as the Swedish M.1887 model. The special feature that distinguishes
it from this one is a large safety lever, adapted to the frame, on the left
side.
The
number of weapons with security is quite small. The specimens with the first
serial numbers examined bear the pre-1893 proofhouse mark, the others bear the
post-1893 mark.
The marks
on the revolver presented :
Frame,
left side: BREVET (patent) NAGANT / Serial No. 444.
Frame and
barrel, left side : */D controller mark / serial number 444.
Cylinder
ELG in oval and */Z (controller).
The
serial numbers are still on the main parts of the weapon, except for the
cylinder and the safety lever.
