Some of the most beautiful work of this craftsman, and many others, are in this book “Liège Gunmakers through their Work. 1800 - 1950”.

NEUMANN Max

Beautiful example of a French MANU weapon manufactured .... at Liège !

The weapon is clearly identified by the advertisement insert, it is a REVOLVELO, calibre 32, with a ring trigger.

It’s more complicated with the punches and markings, most of which are unknown to me because probably added by the Manu !

However, I can identify two hallmarks of the Liège proofhouse, namely:

P*: countermark of controller post 1877

R crowned: rifled barrel, in use from 1894 to 1968.

The marks are probably French with the exception of the N in a circle which could in any case belong to the manufacturer Neumann Max to Liège.

8892: is unquestionably a serial number.

It should be noted that in the late 19th and early 20th centuries the Liège armoury produced all kinds of weapons at competitive prices. Most of this important production was distributed abroad, France of course, but also South America where some Liège armourers had outlets.

GG

The Revolvelo.

This 5-shot bull-dog revolver in cal 320 was sold by the Manufacture Française d’Armes et Cycles de Saint Etienne in the 1900s until the war of 14-18.

It was intended for cyclists and drivers.

Its particularity is its loosening ring.

At the time we cared little about false advertising!

It is indicated French manufacture, and the gun bears Belgian marks!

I also like it, in the features: range 60 m, while there is no sight!
