Some of the most beautiful work of this craftsman, and many others, are in this book “Liège Gunmakers through their Work. 1800 - 1950”.

Paulus Jean

It is about a revolver top break of the type S&W. The opening is practiced by raising the cylinder placed on the top of the weapon. The barrel is with 5 blows of ignored gauge. The cylinder is striped and equipped with a front sight in half-moon. Both grips do bakelite seem to be out of, they also carry an illegible monogram which could be the initial ones of the manufacturer of Liège??

The weapon carries the lawful punches of the proofhouse of Liege, namely:

ELG* in a crowned oval: final acceptance, of use of 1893 to 1968.

Spangled AK: countermark of the controller, of use of 1877 to 1968.

The weapon also carries trademarks of the many unknown subcontractors, namely:

C crowned: could it be a question of the mark of a manufacturer of barrel??

JBP in an oval lying could be one of the two craftsmen below:

- PAULUS, J.B street Marie-Louise Naveau with JUPILLE.1 patent in 1828?

- PAULUS, Jean (BE 1924/1929) street J.Hermesse, 69 in Jupille. FROM 1904 à1926, it deposits 6 patents.

This last could be appropriate but I do not have anything to confirm this possibility!

LL - NR in a circle - letter a: it also acts of markings of not identified subcontractors.
