Nicolas Pieper "Legia"
Here is a very rare Legia pistol in calibre 6,35 by
Nicolas Pieper
In short, Nicolas Pieper bought from Hippolyte Thonon (from Wandre) the rights
of his patent 285 373 of 6 February 1920.
Nicolas Pieper filed patent 293 774 on January 21, 1921
concerning a security (preventing fire when the magazine is removed).
The pistol will be named “Legia” after a creek that
winds in a neighborhood of Liège.

Patent 285373
Patent 293774
British patent 158.886
Nicolas Pieper type Legia
Cal 6.35mm
The pistol model 1909 is a manufacture of Nicolas Pieper according to a patent bought with Hippolyte Thonon and sold under the denomination Légia gun. (It is said that it would have been manufactured in its workshop in Paris. The workshop existed indeed but there is until now no proof that it was produced there nor even gone up.)
