PIRE Jules & Cie
It is
about a revolver of pocket of type Lefaucheux without trigger guard and with
folding trigger. The barrel is with 8 sides with front sight “twin wheel” .The
cylinder with cell is seems me it with 6 blows with pin of gauge 7mm. The
trigger is folding without trigger guard. The metal rod slides in a guide
integrated into the console and is maintained by a small leaf spring. The
loading is practiced by a swivelling door placed on the right side of the
weapon. The plates of stick out of wooden squared are maintained by a transverse
screw and two brass rivet washers.
The
weapon carries the punches of the proofhouse of Liège, namely:
ELG* in a
crowned oval: final acceptance post 1893.
O*:
countermark of the controller post 1877.
R
crowned: rifled bore, of use of 1894 to 1968.
The
weapon also carries the following marks:
J.P.C. in
a rectangle:
This mark does not appear in the collections of marks of Liège, it perhaps acts
of the mark of
Jules PIRE & Co
in Antwerp which occurred De Keyser, 41. This arms manufacturer used mark
JPC in a circle
which applied to the sticks (see enclosure). Nothing does not prohibit to think
that it used also a rectangle.
29 in several places of the weapon should be the serial number.
Crowned
OD:
it could be a question of the mark of a subcontractor is
ORY-DUQUENNE,
arms manufacturer street SAINT LAURENT, 92 in LIEGE. (BE 1904/1934).
GF - W: they are other not identified subcontractors.
