F.I. Sauvage

An all-metal flintlock four barrel pocket pistol,

F.I. Sauvage. Liège, circa 1780. Round turn-off barrels with rifled bores in 8 mm calibre.

Lightly engraved frizzen block.

Barrels numbered 1 - 4. Each pair of barrels is rotated into firing position by hand. Two centre flintlock cocks with sliding safeties.

Lightly engraved frame with signature.

A sliding button on the right side for locking the barrel arrays in place.

Grip decorated with rocaille and vine engravings.

Length 19 cm.

F.I. Sauvage is documented in Liège from ca. 1750 to 1785. Cf. Stöckel, p. 1109.
