Some of the most beautiful work of this craftsman, and many others, are in this book “Liège Gunmakers through their Work. 1800 - 1950”.

SAUVEUR Frères (Maybe)
Here is a nice small revolver made in Liège, nicely engraved, in very good condition, but unfortunately not signed.
I see only two stamps: ELG on a star in an oval for acceptance by the Liège proofhouse, in use between 1846 and 1893, and a D under a star, the countermark of a controller, in use since 1877.
On the barrel: Le Sauveur nouveau modèle perfectionné 1882.
The web tells us that there is at least another revolver (slightly larger, another model of lacrosse) with the same inscription. But nothing on the manufacturer.
A member of the team did not want to look for noon at 2 p.m. and suggested a production by a member of the “tribe” of the SAUVEUR, active in Liège.
The idea is certainly appealing, but this “tribe” was mainly active from 1901. However, the markings suggest that the revolver was manufactured between 1877 and 1893.
The “Who is who of the Liege armoury” tells us that the SAUVEUR Brothers, 103 Laixhaut Street in Herstal, filed patents between 1884 and 1887, which have nothing to do with this revolver. But that means they may have been active earlier.
The book listing the trademarks registered in Belgium between 1879 and 1960 in the field of weapons and weapon parts does not mention this (possible) trademark, and even none in 1882 and 1883... but that is another story.
