The weapon

Shotgun hammerless. The juxtaposed barrels of gauge 12 are smooth.

Locks “ahead” are engraved “with bouquets” (typical engraving of Liège). The key of opening is of type “Top lever” with safety with slide “Galand”. The forearm is with push rod.

The stick “cut with English” is probably out of wood of walnut.

Punches

This rifle carries the lawful punches of the proofhouse of Liege, namely:

ELG on star in a crowned oval: final acceptance post 1893.

J and AC spangled: countermarks of the controllers post 1877.

12 C in a rhombus: gauge, of use of 1898 to 1924.

D= 70 m/m/20.4: length of the room in mm and diameter in mm after optional test with the powder without smoke. In use of 1892 to 19924.

PV surmounted of a stylized lion: test with the powder without smoke, of use of 1898 to 1968.

Peron: inspection, of use of 1853 to our days.

EL in English letters: provisional test, of use of 1852 to our days.

CHOKE 17.9/18.0 and 17.4/18.0: chokes barrels: gauged in mm to 22 cm of the breech and the mouth. In use of 1910 to 1924.

P = 1K.599.4: weight of the barrel which can draw from the powders without smoke (weapons smooth) of use of 1892 to 1924.

J. Troisfontaines brevetes (Patent): mark from the arms manufacturer Joseph Troisfontaines street Adrien Cartier, 53 with Herstal (1904-1907) Author of 2 patents including 180489 for a rifle ejector.

Acier comprimé CAP (Steel compressed CAP): mark of the manufacturer of barrels from rifles CAP Henri, street Jonruelle, 62 in LIEGE (1904/1920).

410: it could be a question of the serial number.
