LE NOVO

"Le Novo" or "Novo", patent of Dieudonné OURY (collapsible handle), manufactured, inter alia, by the Derkenne* workshops in Mortier.

Would have been put on the market (catalogues) by Galand (inventive removal system to key used on others older weapons).

Also manufactured by HDH (Henrion, Dassy and Heuschen), Ancion-Marx, A. Godefroid, RIGA George....

Arrived late on the market (1905) in 5,5 mm (catalogues Galand and Manuf. Armes St-Etienne) one then finds it in 6,35 mm Browning.

HPH

*Following the remarkable work of PHL, known as "the truffle hunter," Derkenne does not exist. This is most likely a transcription error during the writing of "Four Centuries of Liège Armoury" by the late Claude Gaier. This error has been repeated in numerous articles, particularly on Littlegun.

However, there is indeed someone named HERKENNE!

Barthélemi Joseph HERKENNE, Gunsmith, born June 2, 1849, in Trembleur, France, and died January 3, 1906, in Mortier, France, at the age of 56.

Married on September 9, 1880, in Trembleur, France, to Marie Reine OURY (1845-1906), one of the sisters of Dieudonné Joseph OURY (1839-1909), himself from Mortier. The link between Herkenne and Oury is thus established.
