Rifle NAGANT

This is a NAGANT military rifle, MANNLICHER system ,caliber 8 mm.

The bolt designed by NAGANT is ''straight pull'' and this is the essential characteristic of this mechanism.

The magazine located in front of the trigger guard, consists of one oblong fixed box.

Five rounds capacity.

The loading is done from the bottom , the bottom of the magazine swivelling around a hinge located at the front.

The gun must be turned over for loading which can be done one by one or the five rounds at once.

This gun was patented by NAGANT brothers on October 26, 1887.

It was entered for the Belgian army testing in August 1888.

Other patents were registered by NAGNANT in order to correct some imperfections, but as a matter of fact, the MAUSER will be chosen by the military in spite of the undeniable qualities of the NAGANT.

NAGANT also manufactured the bayonet for this rifle.
