Some of the most beautiful work of this craftsman, and many others, are in this book “Liège Gunmakers through their Work. 1800 - 1950”.

Dozin B. / Rouma L. / Mariette D.
Here is a beautiful garden rifle with two superimposed barrels, one in 6 mm with rifled barrel, the other in 9 mm with smooth barrel. Beautiful grids, neat finish, a beautiful piece! Not uncommon either, other armourers have also made them.
There is no selector (this exists on other models of Mariette rifles), so if both guns are loaded, both shots start at the same time.
The weapon is based on one of the many patents filed by Mariette (Dieudonné ? ) and manufactured in Liège, as evidenced by the hallmarks. It was sold in Paris by the famous house H. Fauré Le Page.
We also see the name of B. Dozin.
The markings
84 and 94 or -This 8. 4? In this case, it may be the diameter of the lower barrel, for the 9 mm Flobert. As for the 94. . . a manufacturing number?
LR crowned: It could be Lambert Rouma’s initials.
Thank you posthumously to Guy Gadisseur.
T under star: countermark of a controller between 1877 and 1968
Peron: inspection since 1853
R crowned: rifled barrel (top), between 1894 and 1968; The weapon is therefore dated after 1894.
ELG on star in crowned oval: accepted between 1893 and 1968
Mariette Breveté: I presume that it is patent 079 490 filed by Dieudonné Mariette on November 10, 1887, but I am not sure at all. Especially since from here, I can’t feel if there’s actually a spring in the ejection system...
This is the patent in question.
I’ve got the impression that there must be a patent of Dieudonné Mariette prior to this one, without the springs, but I have not - still – found.
