The weapon

It is about a gun with central percussion and two juxtaposed barrels.

This weapon called “Scottish” in Liege was often named also “Brazilian pistol” because of its usual destination.

This weapon with top break opening the made-to-order of the shotguns comprises an oscillating bolt being used for the opening of the weapon for the loading/unloading.

The stick banana is out of wood kind ebony squared. A nail (of silver?) is inserted in each square.

The weapon is nickelled and carries a rather rustic engraving of foliage.

The weapon carries the lawful punches of the proofhouse of Liege, namely:

Spangled ELG in a crowned oval: final acceptance post 1893.

R crowned: countermark of the controller post 0877.

Peron: inspection post 1853.

Marking

The mark CASA PAULINO GARCIA RIO OF JANEIRO is probably that of the Brazilian retailer!

The manufacturer

Mark FDC in a cartouche struck the lock belongs to the factory of weapons DUMOULIN François & C° street Thier of the fountain, 2 in Liege.

It was registered with the proofhouse of 1908 to 1968. This firm deposited seven patents arms manufacturers (see site).

The weapon

It is about a pistol to Scottish also named “Brazilian” of reduced size.

The weapon is with central percussion and external hammers.

The rifled bores are juxtaposed and of calibre 320.

A front sight in barley grain is fixed on the tape connecting the barrels.

The weapon top break rocks thanks to the action of an oscillating bolt under the barrels.

Does the stick banana consist of two plates out of wooden fixed by a screw and two rivet washers of brass. It ends in a ring assembled on screw-pivot.

The double trigger is under trigger guard.

The whole is nickelled.

Rather light engraving comprises a pretty butterfly an unmatched bit with the function of the weapon.

ELG on star in a vertical oval under crown: acceptance post 1893.

Peron: inspection post 1853.

R under star: countermark of the controller post 1877.

R under crown: rifled bores, of use of 1894 to 1968.

The manufacturer

F.D.C in a cartouche: it is about one of the marks used by the company François DUMOULIN & C° street Thier of the Fountain, 2 in LIEGE. The company was registered with the proofhouse of tests of 1908 to 1968. In 1912, it was in LIEGE boulevard of Sauvenière, 106.

The company deposited seven Belgian patents.
