Some of the most beautiful work of this craftsman, and many others, are in this book “Liège Gunmakers through their Work. 1800 - 1950”.

Falisse et Trapmann
Here’s what could be a regular navy pistol, bearing a
three-digit number on the stock, made in Liège: it’s almost certainly from
Falisse
and Trapmann: it’s a member of the team
with very good eyes (and of course with extensive knowledge) who spotted, in the
first photo, the letters
FT in a circle/oval
on the barrel. Letters found on several weapons studied in the corresponding
page.
The hook
on the left of the gun is certainly used to hold the gun on a wide shoulder
strap or a belt.
The
punches
ELG on
oval star: accepted by the proofhouse of Liège, in use between 1846 and 1893;
EL:
provisional proof, in use since 1852;
Peron:
inspection, in use since 1853;
Z
crowned: countermark of a controller, in use from 1853 to 1877;
F under
crown in a vertical oval and H in a circle: probably stamps of military
controllers.
There are
still others, but very erased and unidentified.
No idea
what Navy might have used that gun.
The company
Falisse and
Trapmann had a very varied production and
supplied to many countries, including Spain.
Here is
what was said about it around 1855:
