The weapon
Very traditional copy of Liège of a revolver Lefaucheux 7mm. It is with pin and open frame. The barrel is round with triangular back sight. The cylinder is smooth with six rooms of 7mm. The loading is practiced by a right side door dropping thanks to the action of an internal spring. Unloading is done using a metal rod placed under the gun and sliding in a guide integrated into the console, it is maintained in place by a small leaf spring. The concave trigger without trigger guard is folded up under the carcass. The stick consists of two plates out of wooden of walnut smooth connected by a transverse screw and two brass rivet washers.
Punches
The weapon carries the lawful punches of the proofhouse of Liege, namely:
ELG on star in a vertical oval: final acceptance, of use of 1846 to 1893.
M spangled: countermark of the controller post 1877.
It thus comes out from it that this weapon was manufactured between 1877 and 1893.
Marks
It is here that the Corsican business because two marks (JF under star in an oval and TB in an oval) are completely unknown for me. They don’t appear in the file of the marks of Liège however packed well!?
I sought the arms manufacturers who at that time carried the initial JF, that gives:
FALLOISE Joseph (1852/1876) street of Laveu in Liege.
PEEL Jean (1869/1876) Place of the Market, 55 in Liege.
FISCHER Jules (1875/1909).
However nothing indicates that one or the other is the manufacturer of this weapon which in addition was manufactured of tens of thousands of specimens to the war 1914. It is thus about a very current part.
