Some of the most beautiful work of this craftsman, and many others, are in this book “Liège Gunmakers through their Work. 1800 - 1950”.

A Flobert shooting
rifle, made in Liège, with a heavy rifled barrel, a swan-neck stock with
cheekpiece, a Swiss rear sight, and a scrolled trigger guard. The hooked
buttplate is thicker and therefore heavier than that of a "normal" rifle; the
stock is weighted to compensate for the weight of the barrel.
Markings

times): inspection since 1853
ELG in oval under
crown: acceptance between 1893 and 1968

R crowned: rifled

A target rifle, a
testament to the (blessed?) era when shooting was extremely popular and well
regarded by the authorities because it contributed to the defense of the
homeland. Every town had its own "flobertist" society(s) who often practiced in
the back rooms of cafés... or even in municipal shooting.
