Some of the most beautiful work of this craftsman, and many others, are in this book “Liège Gunmakers through their Work. 1800 - 1950”.

Laport (without certainty !)
Breaking
the barrel is done by turning the trigger guard a quarter of a turn to the left.
The only
trigger hits first the hammer on the right and then the one on the left.
The
caliber is +- 9mm.
The
hammer hits the small rotating piece above the barrel and hits the top of the
ammunition, so it's an annular percussion.
The gun
is equipped with an extractor.
Clearly
the grips are not original.
Without
marking, not easily identifiable... It is a Garrucha type pistol (sometimes
called Gaucho), very popular in South America (Brazil and Argentina especially),
some of which were produced until the 60's in many calibres, 22 ring, 32, 38,
etc...
Its
caliber seems to be with 9mm Flobert, like many of its congeners. It still has
its peculiarities: the unlocking by rotation of the trigger guard and the
presence of a single release. Most often, these pistols have two triggers and a
bolted trigger guard...
When we
said that... The question remains of its origin: Brazil, like most Garrucha?
In any
case, without the slightest certainty, it could be a weapon manufactured by
Laport, who had a sales office AND workshops in Buenos Aires, Argentina...
