Some of the most beautiful work of this craftsman, and many others, are in this book “Liège Gunmakers through their Work. 1800 - 1950”.

Montigny-Fusnot
Here is a well marked
Montigny-Fusnot
rifle but without the hallmarks of the Liège proofhouse.
The caliber is 9 mm.
A pistol based on the same
principle of the firing point was mentioned among the craftsmen identified at
the site, under the same name. Here too, the lever in front of the bridge allows
the breech to be opened to introduce the projectile with the powder, according
to the invention of
Charles Fusnot,
also well known for his cartouchery in Cureghem (Anderlecht), founded in 1867,
which became Cartoucherie belge in 1888.
The AMI magazine published two articles on the
Montigny
dynasty (issues 12 and 17) by Hubert Marchand.
He also presented a
Montigny-Fusnot
rifle and wrote a frame based on the 1868 book by C.J. Tackels on guns loading
by the breech.
It says that in 1847
Charles Fusnot
created the cartridges (hollow ball, loaded with cotton powder and primed),
similar to those of the Frenchman Gaupillat and the American Hunt, cartridges
used in
Montigny’s salon pistol (and thus also for
rifles).
Fusnot and Montigny
also exhibited together in London.
