NAGANT M.1893 Brésilien
This is a NAGANT M.1893 revolver intended for the Brazilian ground troops.
Its caliber is the largest ever used by NAGANT for its handguns, the .44 NAGANT
(11.2x20R).
The frame of this revolver is identical to that of the Belgian NAGANT M.1878 but
the mechanism is that of the M.1878/86.
The barrel is 1 cm longer. The ejector rod is different from the Belgian models.
The cylinder is more massive and without grooves.
The walnut wood plates are finely checkered, joined by a screw and two
single-ear rosettes. The stock ends with a metal cap and a ring held by a pivot
screw.
The hallmarks
This weapon has undergone vigorous polishing.
The acceptance mark (ELG on a star in an oval) is normally applied around the
cylinder (unlike other NAGANT revolvers) together with a */B, the mark of a
controller.
