That
weapon will make some laugh that we can make so much hay for a "stupid" gun at a
single shot.
But here it is a piece of the puzzle of the history of
the Pieper
that comes to add to a not insignificant set.
This
rifle is (almost) more beautiful than on the photos of the sale.
Personally I had never seen a single copy, except on
the N. Pieper
catalogues.

It is a semi-automatic rifle caliber FL 22L of brand Nicolas Pieper rue Bonne Nouvelle, 42 in Liège. He was the son of Henri Pieper.
The weapon bears the markings of the Liège test bench, namely:
ELG* in a crowned oval: final acceptance, in use from 1893 to 1968.
Perron: inspection, in use from 1853 to the present day.
P*: controller's countermark, in use from 1877 to 1968.
