Some of the most beautiful work of this craftsman, and many others, are in this book “Liège Gunmakers through their Work. 1800 - 1950”.

Scholberg & Gadet / Warnant
Here’s a revolver poly White . 380 calibre, six socket holes in the barrel, the
barrel of which has no front sight. A door on the left side allows access to the
inside of the lock.
The markings:
ELG on star in oval: accepted from 1846 to 1893.
L under star: countermark of a controller between 1877 and 1968.
S & G on W Patents:
initials of
Scholberg and Gadet/Warnant.
It is in fact a revolver covered by patent 39 792
dated 30 June 1876 filed by
Jean Warnant,
which is in fact an improvement on the patent dated 29 November 1875.
Jean Warnant
sold the patent to
Scholberg and Gadet
on February 20, 1879 before the notary Pasque for the sum of 3,000 francs. But
the production continued to be carried out by
Jean Warnant’s
workshop. We can assume that
Jean Warnant was
in need of cash and that he sold his patent to
Scholberg and
Gadet while continuing to manufacture his
revolver.
For
Scholberg and Gadet
and
Jean Warnant, see Alain Daubresse’s books
on “Liège
Gunmakers through their works”.
