The oval cartouche on the wood with the initials SL and Syndicat Liégeois des Armes de Guerre refers to the maker.
This company was registered 1882-1886. It was founded by a partnership of Liège gunmakers J. Ancion & Cie, Dresse-Laloux & Cie, Auguste Francotte and Pirlot & Frésart. The company registered 3 trade marks in 1884.
