The weapon

Small weapon of pocket or single stroke bracket. The rifled bore with baluster (left round and part with sides) carry the bead fixed at dovetail. It rocks forwards (top break) allowing the loading/unloading. The opening makes move back the extractor.

The trigger with pin is of type “to Mexican”. The calibre is of 22L Flobert or 5,5 mm.

The carcass is engraved of foliage and this including on the metal back of the handle.

This one consist of two wood plates (walnut?) squared maintained by a central screw and two rivet washers.

The weapon carries two lawful punches of the proofhouse of Liege, namely:

Peron: inspection post 1853.

A under star: countermark of the controller post 1877.

ELG on star in a crowned oval: final acceptance post 1893.

R crowned: rifled bore, of use of 1894 to 1968.

The manufacturer

The metal amount of stick mark MEYERS is struck; it acts of a mark of manufacturer of Liège of course. The problem is that no initial of first name is visible, but I found 4 MEYERS in the 2nd part of the 19th century, namely:

MEYERS Guillaume de Cheratte who deposited 4 patents of 1887 to 1910.

MEYERS Guillaume Joseph, manufacturer of weapons in Liege, which deposited 7 patents of 1866 to 1879.

MEYERS H.J of Cheratte, which deposited 2 patents of 1894 to 1898.

MEYERS-COUNE, Henri, manufacturer of weapons with Cheratte which deposited 2 patents in 1913.

You note by yourself to determine which is the manufacturer of this weapon is not easy matter to achieve, the more so as the conservation of files was not a priority first of these craftsmen.

The initial JB on this same amount are not identified and belong most probably to a subcontractor.
