Some of the most beautiful work of this craftsman, and many others, are in this book “Liège Gunmakers through their Work. 1800 - 1950”.

Oury Dieudonné
Oury Dieudonné
It is a pocket revolver of the range of
Dieudonné Oury
arms manufacturer in Mortier (province of Liège) from 1895 to 1905.
This gun
has its cylinder on the right. It has only 5 cartridge housings.
Charging
is done by lowering the barrel key located to the right of the gun towards the
rear.
The long,
rifled barrel carries a crescent front sight. The hammer has no crest. The
curved trigger is protected by an oval bridge. The rod (not articulated) is
round-headed. The grips are finely grided and held by a cross screw.
The
weapon bears the statutory hallmarks of the Liège proofhouse, namely:
ELG* in a
crowned oval: definitive acceptance after 1893.
Y*:
Controller’s countermark post 1877.
R
crowned: stripped barrel post 1894.
PV
surmounted by a stylized lion: smokeless powder proof, in use from 1898 to 1968.
The gun also bears the mark of the manufacturer
Dieudonné Oury
in Mortier.

Oury D.D.
Oury D.D. Originating in MORTIER-LIEGE (G.A. n° 340)
Belgian Patent (n° 183200 of the 31.03.1909) delivered to Mr. D.D. OURY with MORTIER.
The NOVO was manufactured by many firms inhabitants of Liège (G.RIGA - GALAND - ANCION-MARX etc.). Conceived by Oury, Novo was especially manufactured in the workshops of Derkenne* with Mortier.
*Following
the remarkable work of PHL, known as "the truffle hunter," Derkenne does not
exist. This is most likely a transcription error during the writing of "Four
Centuries of Liège Armoury" by the late Claude Gaier. This error has been
repeated in numerous articles, particularly on Littlegun.
However, there is indeed someone named HERKENNE!
Barthélemi Joseph HERKENNE, Gunsmith, born June 2, 1849,
in Trembleur, France, and died January 3, 1906, in Mortier, France, at the age
of 56.
Married on September 9, 1880, in Trembleur, France, to
Marie Reine OURY (1845-1906), one of the sisters of Dieudonné Joseph OURY
(1839-1909), himself from Mortier. The link between Herkenne and Oury is thus
established.
