Higny N. J.

Duelling-type rimfire pistol.

Luxury finish compared to more common pistols of the same type.

Caliber 6 mm Flobert, barrel in three different sections, flat RF hammer.

Finely engraved guard with finger rest, grip in nice quality walnut, with a shield shaped, not engraved thumb piece. Engraved butt plate.

NJ Higny Fabt d'Armes à Liège refers to the gun maker, active in Liège, rue St Hubert 9 from 1854 until 1905.

He owned also a barrel shop in Nessonvaux.

Holder of 2 patents (000206/1854 and 002989/1856).

The name Grandjean can also be seen under the gun: it is probably Léon Grandjean, registered in the proofhouse of Liège from 1863 to 1866,

followed by Grandjean Léon & Cie (BE 1866-1868), followed by Grandjean Léon (BE 1868- ?) probably the same person every time.
