Nagant 1893 Norwegian
Classic Norwegian NAGANT M.1893 revolver, part of a delivery of 5,000 pieces supplied on June 22, 1899.
It was manufactured in Liège by the Emile & Léon NAGANT establishments.
Its lock is single and double action and differs from the Swedish model M.1887 only by its shape of the half-moon front sight with recess.
The barrel is round at the thunder then octagonal up to the muzzle.
The cylinder has 6 shots and is fluted. The caliber is 7.5 NAGANT.
The feed is done by a side door lowering thanks to the action of an internal spring. The unloading is done using the metal rod sliding in the guide integrated into the console.
The wooden stocks are finely checkered and joined by a through screw and two rosettes. The stock ends with a cap ring.
The weapon bears the regulatory hallmarks of the Liège proofhouse, namely:
ELG starred in a crowned oval: acceptance post 1893.
P starred: countermark of the controller post 1877.
R crowned: rifled barrel, in use from 1894 to 1968.
The other marks belong to the manufacturer, namely:
NAGANT PATENT: this mark refers to patent no. 42907 of 25.08.1877. The identification of the origin of NAGANT revolvers is done by the marking affixed to the left of the console. All weapons manufactured in Belgium by the NAGANT factory bear this inscription on two lines, followed by the serial number.
Vintage 10152: serial number of the weapon.
Letter A under crown: reception mark of the Norwegian officer NANDRUP
A: letter indicating the order of the parts to facilitate disassembly/reassembly.
Crowned V: unknown mark, probably Norwegian, found only on a few Norwegian NAGANT M.1883
