DEMARTEAU Joseph
Graveur né au pays de Liège et établi à Paris. Il travaillait dans une boutique d’orfèvres qui, depuis le règne de Louis XIII, appartient à sa famille. Il a œuvré sous la direction puis en collaboration avec le graveur LACOLLOMBE.
Engraver born with the country of Liege and bench in Paris. It worked in a shop of goldsmiths which, since the reign of Louis XIII, belongs to his family. It has work under the direction then in collaboration with engraver LACOLLOMBE.
De la collaboration DEMARTEAU – LACOLLOMBE nous citerons les « Nouveaux desseins d’arquebuseries. Dessiné et gravé par DE LACOLLOMBE Paris 1730. Se vend chez de Marteau élève de feu M. de LACOLLOMBE. »
Ce recueil compte 12 planches y compris le frontispice.
DEMARTEAU en fit plusieurs tirages qu’il compléta de ses propres compositions (6 planches)
Ensuite voici les Nouveaux ornements d’arquebuseries dessinés et gravés par DEMARTEAU l’aîné. Il compte 24 planches y compris le frontispice.
Un second tirage qui comprend 26 pages et une seconde série de 12 planches fut titré DEMARTEAU le jeune, graveur sur tous métaux. Demeure au coin du quai Pelletier, du côté de la Grève à Paris.
