NAGANT M.1895 calibre .22

The markings on this M.1895 are those of the revolvers produced by the ISHEWSK Arms Factory.

All M.1895s in .22 caliber are conversions of common models. I am convinced that this revolver is a "test prototype", with a shortened cylinder and an extended barrel. And as stated on a specialized site, these converted revolvers had the cylinder moving forward, but no gas seal.

In my opinion, this is a prototype made outside of a military arsenal. The purpose of this conversion is unknown, since there have been M.1895s converted to .22 caliber, developed by A.A.SMIRNSKII, for decades.

Officially converted revolvers have a conversion number and the last two date digits affixed to the frame, on the right in front of the cylinder.

This revolver has obviously been repolished and rebronzed, which is normal after a transformation.

I'm still looking, but hey...at this point, an article would be interesting because of the weapon itself
